Uniswap Introduces In-App Bridging Across Nine Networks

Share

Uniswap users can now bridge across nine networks directly from the Uniswap Interface and Uniswap Wallet. This new feature, announced here, addresses one of the most requested capabilities by users and marks a significant step toward Uniswap’s vision of facilitating cross-chain swaps.

With the cryptocurrency landscape becoming increasingly multi-chain, over six million Uniswap users currently engage in swaps across various chains. Uniswap Labs is committed to ensuring these users can experience smooth, seamless bridging across chains.

The Challenges of Cross-Chain Bridging

Until now, moving assets between chains has been a complex process. Users often relied on external bridges, which involved navigating unfamiliar interfaces and enduring long transaction times. Additionally, there was always a level of uncertainty regarding the security of different bridging services.

Intents-Based, Permissionless Bridging with Across Protocol

Uniswap Labs’ new bridging feature is powered by Across Protocol, the only cross-chain intents protocol currently in production. Across Protocol provides fast, secure cross-chain transactions, operating through a decentralized network of liquidity pools and relayers. This system allows for quick, secure bridging that settles in seconds rather than minutes.

Unlike other bridges, Across is a permissionless bridge, enhancing security and efficiency for users.

How to Use Uniswap’s In-App Bridging

At launch, the bridging feature will support Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, OP Mainnet, Zora, Blast, World Chain, and ZKsync. Only native assets, such as ETH on Ethereum or ARB on Arbitrum, and stablecoins will be supported for bridging.

To use the in-app bridging:

  • Open the Uniswap Interface or Uniswap Wallet.
  • Navigate to the swap modal.
  • Select the asset you wish to bridge (e.g., ETH or USDC).
  • Navigate to “Swap across networks” and choose the output network.
  • Confirm your transaction.

Uniswap Labs continues to build products for a multi-chain world, aiming to provide users with seamless cross-chain experiences. Users can explore these new features, including bridging, by downloading the Uniswap Wallet or visiting the Uniswap Interface.
