Theta Labs, in collaboration with KAIST AI Lab, has announced the launch of AI Virtual Try-On for Shopify, a cutting-edge AI-powered virtual try-on software designed for e-commerce applications. This innovative technology leverages the expertise of South Korea’s top-ranked university AI research center in computer vision and natural language processing to enhance the online shopping experience.
The AI Virtual Try-On plugin allows online customers to virtually “try on” various tops, including shirts, jerseys, and blouses, by simply uploading a selfie of their top half. This solution aims to improve the online shopping experience and potentially boost sales conversions for e-commerce retailers.
To encourage widespread adoption, Theta Labs is offering the software as a free plugin for Shopify store owners for a limited time. The plugin has already been successfully integrated by beta customers such as Soar and Mazer into their Shopify stores.
Powered by Theta EdgeCloud, AI Virtual Try-On for Shopify is built on a hybrid cloud-edge computing AI platform. This infrastructure combines over 30,000 distributed edge nodes from the Theta Edge Network with cloud partners like Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services, offering more than 80 PetaFLOPS of distributed GPU compute power. By leveraging this distributed network, Theta EdgeCloud can provide significant cost savings compared to traditional cloud providers for GPU computing tasks.
For AI model training and inference services, EdgeCloud offers capabilities at less than half the cost of other cloud providers. AI Virtual Try-On for Shopify represents a practical application of EdgeCloud technology in the e-commerce space, addressing real pain points for online retailers and shoppers alike.
This launch marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Theta Labs and KAIST AI. Looking ahead, the partnership plans to expand the model to include more complex wearables, such as hats, bottoms, and other accessories. This GPU-intensive task will fully utilize Theta EdgeCloud’s cluster of advanced GPUs, pushing the boundaries of AI-driven fashion technology.
